M32 Racing Lands at Primo Cup: Trophée Credit Suisse

2nd February, 2017 (Monaco) – Always ready to innovate and improve, the 33rd Primo Cup – Trophée Credit Suisse sees a major change in format and will present Act 4 of the M32 Monaco Winter Series this weekend.

Inviting the ultra-modern, high-tech carbon M32 catamaran to join the fleet marks an innovative step forward for this Monaco centred regatta over its 32-year history. With their high octane spectacular racing, these cats have been the star of the show at international events from Scandinavia to the United States, Bermuda and of course the Mediterranean. The format of multiple back-to-back races lasting 8 to 11 minutes, is particularly exciting to watch.

Three courses will be set in the bay of Monaco, another first for the Primo Cup, to give each class more space and open up the choice of tactical possibilities compared to previous years where up to six classes have been seen rounding marks at the same time.

With back-to-back wins in the first two events of the series, locals Team Neverland skippered by Guido Miani head into the weekend as favourites, however the Monegasque line-up are by no means safe with Italia Sailing Team and Cape Crow Vikings just three points behind. This weekend also marks the debut of Johnie Berntsson with Team Flux to Mediterranean M32 racing. After mixed results in the 2016 M32 Series Scandinavia the Swedish skipper brings a new team line-up, including the successful Australian match racer Keith Swinton.

Racing begins on Friday at 11:00 local time and continues through the weekend. Stay up to date with results via m32series.com and via social media links below.
