Monaco (March 2nd, 2017) – The ever-glamorous Yacht Club de Monaco will deliver a dramatic finale to the M32 Monaco Winter Series with 20+ knots breeze and big waves. Topped with a tight three-boat race for the title to be decided this weekend, the Med will wrap the series in style over the next three days.
Teams returned to the harbour from practice sailing with wide smiles in anticipation of the weekend ahead. Spring has well and truly arrived in Monaco and a six strong fleet are in town to fight it out on the water.
Three points separate the top three teams, and double points this weekend make a final result this weekend more important than ever before. After taking the winter off from M32 sailing Håkan Svensson returns to skipper his Cape Crow Viking team which Patrik Sturreson and Lovisa Karlsson have been filling in for so far in this series. Svensson’s young Swedish crew a high number of M32 sailing hours under their belt and this experience will prove vital in the testing conditions predicted.
Riccardo Simoneschi with Italia Sailing Team finished in silver medal position at the summer M32 Series Mediterranean and this is their chance to go one better and reach top spot. A win at this event would ensure series victory for the Italians.
Hometown hero Guido Miani has led the series since his win at Act 1 in December. If he wins this weekend he will comfortably take the M32 Monaco Winter Series and make it 3 out of 4 event wins.
When the warning signal rings out over the racecourse tomorrow the smiles of today will drop and the battle will begin.
